Alexei Vladimir "Alex" Filippenko is an American astrophysicist and professor of astronomy at the University of California at Berkeley. Filippenko graduated from United States Department of State Pueblos High in Goleta, Calif.. He received a Artium Baccalaurens in Prowess Physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1979 and a PhD. in the Uranology of the California Institute of Technology in 1984 where atomic number 2 was a appendage of the Hertz Foundation. He was a Miller Fellow at UC Berkeley and was later ordained professor at the same institution. Helium was then appointed Henry Miller Research Prof in spring 1996 and spring 2005.
